OUR MISSION STATEMENT
White Plains Beautification Foundation is dedicated to making the City of White Plains a better place to live and work by developing, maintaining and encouraging green areas and other projects that create beauty, reflect good planning and promote a healthy environment within the city.
Incorporated in 1965, White Plains Beautification Foundation is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that traces its origins back to 1952 when a group of civic-minded residents sought to re-establish downtown oak trees given to the village of White Plains by King George III in 1760 but removed in 1917. Throughout its history, the organization has not only developed and maintained beautiful gardens but has presented other special gifts to enhance the outdoor spaces of White Plains and encourage the greening of the city with grants to local schools and neighborhood associations. You can find out more about who we are from our traditional annual newsletter, e-newsletter and cable TV show, “This Blooming City.” Over the years, WPBF has been recognized with various awards, and its work has been a contributing factor in the city’s designation as “Tree City, USA” by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
