Arbor Day – George Washington School

April 29, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 10:15 am

- Free

Each year, WPBF celebrates Arbor Day by planting a tree at one of the city’s schools. This year’s planting will be at George Washington School at 9:30 am. The public is welcome. Join us rain or shine (on the playground is weather is nice; in the auditorium if not). A sugar maple, donated by Roland N. Barnes and Charlotte Hope Szabo, will honor  our own Barbara Vrooman, founder of Adopt-a-Park and a former WPBF president. Pat Laidman of Care of Trees will plant the tree. Children from the school will present a short musical program. In attendance will be city and school officials including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Fried; Richard G. Hope, Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, who will present the Tree Flag; a representative of the office of Mayor Thomas Roach, who will present the Proclamation. If you would like to donate a tree in honor of or in memory of loved ones, contact us at info@wpbf.org.
