Since the start of  The Daffodil Project in 2014, our organization has planted more than 130,000 bulbs all over the city with the welcome help of the City’s Department of Public Works. Our ambitious goal is to plant tens of thousands of golden daffodils each fall for a decade  to delight passersby each spring. Select this link to a video to see how it all happens and this link to see how our gardens have developed, both videos by Joanna D’Addario.

Dutch Master, trumpet style, is the most widely grown of the yellow trumpets. Like King Alfred before it, it has become the standard early yellow daffodil.

Yellow Cheerfulness, bunch-flowering and fragrant, has been an heirloom favorite since 1937. It has showy double primrose yellow flowers and a wonderful fragrance.

February Gold, a miniature, is one of the earliest and longest lasting daffodils. The flowers are bright yellow with recurved petals and prominent slender cups. Excellent for naturalizing.

Cassata, butterfly style and showy, is perfect for a border and looks great in broad sweeps. Its split cup opens bright yellow, takes on a soft buttery quality, and finishes ivory.

Carlton, two-toned, large-cupped and fragrant, has soft yellow petals that encircle a large, frilly, golden yellow cup. A splendid multiplier that thrives nationwide,

Fragrant Mixture, an aromatic assortment with colorful, hardy blooms. The smaller flowers give them a natural look. They produce an extended and lengthy bloom time and return year after year.

Red Devon, small-cupped and delicately frilled at the rim, blooms mid-spring and features lemon-yellow blossoms and a glowing orange cup.

Martinette, bunch flowering, are wonderfully fragrant with golden yellow petals and a rich, orange trumpet.

Ice Follies, a sweetly fragrant large-cupped daffodil, features creamy white petals and a flared, frilled lemon yellow cup that fades to cream over time.

Blushing Lady, bunch flowering and fragrant, is a charming soft yellow with a sweet twist:  the central cup gradually blushes to a rich salmon-pink and has up to three flowers per stem.

Large Flowering Mixture offers a long-lasting bloom time with more than five varieties covering all major classes: trumpet, large-cupped, small-cupped and double.

Barrett Browning, introduced in 1945, has large four-inch flowers and a showy orange-scarlet cup, slightly frilled at the edges with white overlapping petals.

Fortune, an heirloom daffodil, features brilliant yellow overlapping petals and a short funnel-shaped deep orange cup.

Sir Winston Churchill, bunch flowering and delightfully fragrant, have large creamy-white flowers surrounding a saffron yellow heart.
